PUBG Mobile Lite launched in India, designed for phones with less than 2GB RAM

PUBG Mobile Lite launched in India, designed for phones with less than 2GB RAM

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, or PUBG as it is more commonly referred to as, is one of the most popular games available on the Google Play Store. The Mobile version of the game sees massive popularity in India, and it is rather common to hear about it in clickbait news stories every week where the game is blamed for its addictive nature. The game continues to be popular despite its taxing hardware requirements which require a mid-range smartphone with competitive specifications to enjoy the gameplay. Developers Tencent and PUBG Corp. have realized that there still remains an untapped market, and have thus developed and launched PUBG Mobile Lite in India.
PUBG Mobile Lite expands PUBG Mobile’s compatibility to even more devices, especially those in the budget segment and early mid-range segment. The Lite version of the game is optimized for low-end smartphones which have low RAM and lower storage specifications, as the game comes in at just 400MB for its installer and is designed to work on phones with less than 2GB of RAM. PUBG Mobile Lite thus features a smaller map that accommodates 60 players against the 100 players in the full version. Because of the smaller map and the lower number of simultaneous players in the map, a single round of gameplay comes out to be much faster at 10 minutes compared to the usual ~25 minutes of gameplay in the full mobile version.
Other key features for PUBG Mobile Lite are as follows:
  • Enhanced Aim Assist: The new auxiliary aim assist makes aiming simpler and better on weaker networks. The intensity differs between standing and prone positions.
  • Winner Pass: The Royale Pass from the regular version is replaced with a Winner Pass. The season for this new pass will span over a month and have faster achievement unlocks.
  • Bullet Trail Adjustments: The Lite version of the game will feature increased bullet speed and no bullet drop effect, simplifying gameplay for weak networks.
  • Weapon Recoil Suppression: The Lite version also has lower weapon recoil compared to the main game, simplifying gameplay.
  • Extended Time To Kill: The Lite version makes appropriate increases to Time to Kill to increase player survivability and encourage aggressive gameplay.
  • Location Display: The map on the Lite game will expose a shooter within the mini-map’s range, increasing battle speed and changing game dynamics.
  • Healing while Moving: Another core gameplay change involves adding in the ability for players to heal while they are moving. Players can heal in all stances except prone.
  • Building Density and Loot Supply Optimizations: To complement the smaller map, building density has been increased. Loot frequency has also been increased to expedite looting and speed up gameplay.
  • Map Quality Optimizations
  • RPG and new Firearm integrations: Players can experience a new weapon in select game modes.
New players joining in on PUBG Mobile Lite will be eligible for various rewards, in the form of new gears and vehicles. If you have been dealing with choppy graphics and gameplay lag on the regular game, we recommend trying out PUBG Mobile Lite.

Tencent's PUBG replacement "Game for Peace" rakes in $14 mln in 72 hours

BEIJING, May 13 (Reuters) - Tencent Holdings Ltd's alternative to its video game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) in China became the world's top-grossing mobile battle royale title on Apple's iOS app store in the first 72 hours of its launch, research showed.
The Chinese video gaming leader shut down its test version of global blockbuster PUBG in China last week and shifted users to the similar, more patriotic video game that, unlike PUBG, has regulatory approval to generate revenue.
Tencent did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday.
Sensor Tower also said the sum earned by "Game for Peace" over the first three days was approximately six times the total spent by users on PUBG in other countries where it is available to play.

PUBG Mobile: Four Countries Banned The Popular Game, But Two Have Already Reversed The Ban

PUBG Mobile: Four Countries Banned The Popular Game, But Two Have Already Reversed The Ban

Multiple cities in India had earlier banned PUBG and police in some cities had also arrested as many as 20 people for playing the game despite the ban.

PUBG has emerged as one of the most popular games around the world and perhaps that's the reason why it is giving sleepless nights to parents, schools, universities, and the young gamers who are addicted to the game. However, the popular battle royale game was slapped with a ban in several countries. Multiple cities in India had earlier banned PUBG and police in some cities had also arrested as many as 20 people for playing the game despite the ban. The National Child Rights Commission had also recommended barring the game for its violent nature. Here are the four countries that got behind the PUBG Mobile Ban.

Back in December the Chief Warden of Men’s Hostel of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, had sent out a circular warning the students against playing late night online games, with a special mention to PUBG. The circular stated that the game disturbs fellow roommates and it is "spoiling the entire atmosphere of the hostel". It even suggested that students must concentrate on physical games or sports and "give more importance to their career growth".

Shortly after that, PUBG Mobile was banned in several cities in India. Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara placed a ban on the highly popular and addictive game. These were followed by the districts of Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath. The Aravalli district administration had also placed a ban on the game for around a month.

Nepal:-

The Nepal government had recently imposed a nationwide ban on PUBG Mobile in April. The Supreme Court of Nepal had issued an interim order to the government to not ban the popular online game. Nepal Telecommunications Authority on April 11 had directed all internet service providers of the country to block internet traffic originating from PUBG servers. The apex court also issued a show cause notice to the government. The court observed that PUBG was basically a game used by the general public for entertainment. Since press freedom and freedom of expression are guaranteed by the constitution, it is necessary to prove that such bans are just, fair and reasonable, and the actions of the authorities concerned are wise and logical, the bench stated in its order. The SC observed that the ban imposed by Kathmandu District Court on April 10 was not reasonable.

China:-

If information circulating the internet is to be believed, 20 games have been assessed by China’s Online Gaming Ethics Review Committee. Nine of these 20 games have been banned including the most popular battle royale games – Fortnite and PUBG. The cause given for banning PUBG is “blood and gore” whereas for Fortnite, the reason given is “Blood and gore, vulgar content”. The other 11 games on the list need some corrective actions. Blizzards Overwatch, for example, needs a corrective action and the cause given is that the game visuals promote "incorrect values and inharmonious chatroom”.

Iraq:-

Iraq parliament has now banned several popular online games, including Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The government says these games are harmful to society and a potential national security threat.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), made by South Korean firm Bluehole Inc, is a survival-themed battle game that drops dozens of online players on an island where they try and eliminate each other. North Carolina-based Epic Games' Fortnite, with a similar premise, is seen as an industry game-changer by analysts as it signed up tens of millions of users for its last-player-standing "Battle Royale" format.

PUBG Ban in India by 'High Court of Maharashtra' Is Fake News

December 30, 2018 0
PUBG Ban in India by 'High Court of Maharashtra' Is Fake News
PUBG Mobile has not been banned in India, as rumours may have you believe. The fake news could be taken as a nod to the game's popularity in the country. An image of what seems to be a legal notice has been doing the rounds on Facebook stating that PUBG Mobile has been banned in India. It mentions how PUBG Mobile is "creating alot (sic) of nuisance and irrespective activities (sic) and many students spoiling their own lives". If the poorly constructed sentences weren't a dead giveaway, this PUBG Mobile notice appears to be issued by the "High Court of Maharashtra". While it might sound legitimate, there's no such judicial body. It's signed by a K. Srinivasulu who appears to have the designation of a prejudge. Not only is the post of a prejudge non-existent in the Indian judicial system, a quick Google search suggests that there's no judge by this name which Gadgets 360 confirmed after checking with a few Bombay High Court lawyers.
While Tencent, the game's publisher in India has yet to respond to Gadgets 360's request for comment, several e-sports and game expo organisers speaking to Gadgets 360 have said that the game hasn't been banned. In fact it plays an important part in their upcoming events.
"We haven't heard anything from Tencent about a ban and it seems unlikely," a Mumbai-based e-sports organiser tells us on the condition of anonymity. "We're probably going to have it at our 2019 events because it pulls in crowds."
Suffice to say, the PUBG Mobile ban notice is fake news. It's unclear where this hoax originated from although it has been shared on Facebook and Twitter. Perhaps its a nod to the game's popularity in the country. According to a recent study from free Internet provider Jana on its mCent browser app, nearly 62 percent of the 1,047 Indian respondents in a survey said they played PUBG Mobile. This makes it about three times the next most popular game, Free Fire.
These numbers are inline with PUBG Mobile's popularity globally. Outside of China, PUBG Mobile now has 30 million daily active users and has hit 200 million downloads, Tencent said in a statement. However, the 200 million downloads number doesn't paint an accurate picture of how many people play the game. The daily active users is a metric people should look at to gauge PUBG Mobile's popularity and even that number is very high at 30 million.
These figures highlight how popular PUBG Mobile is across the world. The fact that PUBG Mobile runs smoothly on even low-end Android devices has boosted its popularity. Thanks to being on Android (as well as iOS), PUBG Mobile dominates Asia and China according to Sensor Tower, with the US making up only 30 percent of PUBG's revenue.
