IPL enters IIT! Help MS Dhoni to decide, students asked in semester exam

Help MS Dhoni to decide in a crucial play-off match against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, the students were asked in their semester examination at Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IIT-M).

The Indian Premier league (IPL) has entered the portals of the premier Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IIT-M). Help MS Dhoni to decide in a crucial play-off match against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, the students were asked in their semester examination.
To their surprise, the students were asked about how to make judgment of the pitch and the outfield considering the dew factor. No, it was not a generalised one, but a specific one pertaining to the Chepauk ground in Chennai, hosting the qualifier for the IPL. Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians in the play-offs.
It was an end semester examination for the paper ‘Material and Energy balances’ held on Monday. Giving details of the weather forecast and the temperature as well as possible humidity level in the city, students were asked to recommend Dhoni what he should opt for – batting or bowling first.
Bringing novelty into the matter, the question has been set in such a way that the students have to answer and justify their reasoning. Points will not be awarded without correct justification. So they can’t hazard a guess.

CSK, with a fanatic fan following, has the credit of reaching the play offs in every edition of the tournament save for the ban period. Dhoni is so popular that a movie on a cricket aspirant too has come in his name. No wonder then that the questioner too asks students to team up with him on what to opt for.
“As per the weather forecast for May 7, the relative humidity in Chennai is expected to be 70%. Temperature at the start of the game is predicted to be 39 degree C, at the beginning of the second innings the temperature is expected to drop to 27 degree C. Based on this info, if MS Dhioni wins the toss, would you recommend batting or fielding first?” reads the question.
The question was set by Professor Vignesh Muthuvijayan of the Bio-Technology faculty. With the International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeting the question, it has gone viral on the internet. The ICC’s tweet had this caption as well: “Shout out to Professor Vignesh @iitmadras for making exams relevant to important, real-life issues”
Prior to that, it explains that dew plays a major role in day night cricket making the outfield wet. With the ball getting wet, it becomes difficult for both spinners and pacers to bowl with required grip.
When contacted, Professor Vignesh M said students should be able to apply in real life what they learn in the class rooms.“Academic enquiry of sports is very relevant to understand what students learn. They could apply their academic knowledge in real life situations. Rather than being a mere spectator to pre-match discussions on TV, they could themselves analyse from what they have learnt in the class room. Since cricket is popular and IPL being played in the city, it has been taken in this instance. And, Dhoni is hugely popular here,” he explained.

IPL 2019 Playoffs, Qualifier 1 Live Updates, CSK vs MI Today Match: Catch all the updates of the Indian Premier League Playoff encounter between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians from the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Hello and welcome to Sportstar's live coverage of tonight's Indian Premier League encounter between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians from the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Dhoni:"Somebody has to lose, things really didn't go our way, especially batting. These are the best batsmen we have got, it looks like we are are batting well, but at times, they pull off shots that shouldn't be played."

CSK vs MI:  Deepak Chahar returns.  Surya gets a four and now, MI just one run away from victory. That's that. Suryakumar brings up Mumbai's victory with a single and with it, powers his team into it's fifth final. That has been a comprehensive performance from the Rohit Sharma-led side. They have now beaten CSK thrice this season; twice in their own backyard. Chennai, on the other hand, wouldn't lose heart yet. It'll face the winner of the Eliminator between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. That would be all from our side. We will be back with all the action from tomorrow's match between DC and SRH. Until then, this is Ayan Acharya signing out. Night!
CSK vs MI: Tahir returns for his last.  Hardik Pandya the new man in. Eight runs from the over. Tahir 4-0-33-2. Mumbai needs 16 runs in 24 balls. Bravo returns into the attack. Nine runs off the over. Mumbai needs 7 runs in 18 balls. Jadeja to bowl out. Just one run from the over. Jaddu 4-0-18-0. Mumbai needs 6 runs in 12 balls.

CSK vs MI: Jaddu returns into the attack. He goes for seven with Surya getting a four off the last ball. Seven off it. Mumbai needs 40 runs in 42 balls. Tahir to continue.  4 wides off the first ball. Fifty up for Surya. Top knock from Surya.  GONE! Tahir strikes, cleans up Ishan. Is this the opening CSK needed? ANOTHER ONE! Krunal falls first ball. Tahir, you beauty. Jadeja to bowl his third. MI 108/4 after 15 overs.

CSK vs MI: Bravo to continue. SHOT! Surya brings out a glorious cover-drive and gets four for it. 10 off the over. They are cruising at the moment, are MI. Tahir to continue. Surya upping the ante, brings up the 50-run partnership with a cracking four, and follows it up with yet another four to long-on. 11 off the over. Bhajji to bowl out. Five to end the over. Bhajji 4-0-25-1. MI 85/2 after 12 overs.

CSK vs MI: Ravindra Jadeja to bowl his first. Four off his first over. Dwayne Bravo has been introduced into the attack. Seven in the over. Imran Tahir introduced into the attack. He concedes just five. MI 59/2 after 9 overs. Mumbai needs 73 runs in 66 balls.

CSK vs MI: Bhajji to continue. He strikes! Gets rid of de Kock who holes out to Faf. Ishan Kishan to the crease. Just two off that over. Chahar to continue. DROPPED! Vijay drops Surya and concedes a four, second consecutive one for Surya. 11 runs from the over.  Bhajji to continue. Kishan collects a four and a six. MI 44/2 after 6 overs.

CSK vs MI: Dhoni starts with Deepak Chahar like always. Rohit gets off the mark with a punch off the backfoot for four. GONE! Deepak traps Rohit in front. He reviews but the umpire's call stands. CSK has drawn first blood. Suryakumar Yadav is the new man in. Eight off the over. Bhajji to share the new ball. De Kock gets a four with a delightful late cut. Seven off the over. Deepak to continue. Another four for de Kock. Five to end the over. CSK 20/1 after 3 overs.

Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock all set to begin the chase. Deepak Chahar to start with the new ball.

Right then, we have a match on our hands. Dhoni and Rayudu have added 66 for the fifth wicket to take CSK to 131/4 on a spinner friendly pitch. Mumbai needs 132 to win and book a final berth. All three CSK spinners average below 6 at home. Mumbai has a task at hand.

CSK vs MI: Bumrah to bowl the final over. Last four overs have gone for 31. OUT! It's all happening. The bat flies off Dhoni's hands but he has been caught. HUGE WICKET! Oh Wait! Its been given a no-ball. JEEZ! MS survives. Good comeback from Bumrah. Just nine of it. CSK 131/4.

CSK vs MI: 12 balls to go. Dhoni, Rayudu will surely look to go big. Malinga to bowl the 19th.  My word! Dhoni, you beautu. He has launched Malinga over long-on for his 22nd maximum. And another one. This one goes straight over the bowler's head. He has arrived. Single to end the over. CSK 122/4 after 19 overs.

NEW DELHI:
A Class 10 student of Amity International School in Noida, Vinayak Sreedhar, idolised Stephen Hawking, aspired to be an astronaut and wanted to top the CBSE board examinations this year. However, he died in March before he could write his last two exams.
As the class 10 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination results were announced yesterday, it was found that Vinayak Sreedhar scored 100 in English, 96 in Science and 97 in Sanskrit.
Sreedhar was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was a two-year-old. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. It is caused due to the absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact.
The student had appeared for the exams under the general category and not the Children With Special Need (CWSN) category.
"His muscular movement was very limited. He could write slowly but since there is a time duration for exams, he used a scribe to write English and Science exam. For Sanskrit, he insisted to write himself. His body movement was restricted and he was wheelchair-bound, but his mind was very sharp and aspirations very high," Mamta Sreedhar, his mother, said.
"He would always say I want to become an astronaut despite all the challenges and would say if Stephen Hawkings could go to Oxford and make a name in Cosmology I can go to space too. He was confident that he will be among top rankers. We were always amazed with his confidence and would encourage him further," she added.
Legendary British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking also suffered from a motor neurone disease.
Sreedhar had plans to visit Rameswaram temple near Kanyakumari, after his exams were over.

ODD, AMORPHOUS AMPHIBIAN COULD SOON BE HONOURED AS KERALA'S STATE FROG

May 06, 2019 0
ODD, AMORPHOUS AMPHIBIAN COULD SOON BE HONOURED AS KERALA'S STATE FROG
Imagine for a moment that you’re a god, even a minor one, and that you’re tasked with creating life on a freshly-baked planet.
You create a world of wondrous beauty, populate it with creatures as serenely magnificent as the blue whale, as disarmingly charming as the house cat and as vigorously colourful as the mandarin fish.
On a lark you create a creature as hilarious as the blue-butted mandrill or as scary as the goliath birdeater. But why would you, or any god (no matter how puny) for that matter, create something as absurdly amorphous and odd-looking as India’s purple frog?
Odd, amorphous amphibian could soon be honoured as Keralas state frog

This very same frog, by the way, is on its way to being recognised as Kerala’s state frog. Manorama Online reports that Sandeep Das, a researcher at the Kerala Forest Research Institute, has set things in motion to make this happen.
This purplish, puffy termite-eater with a blister for a nose is native to the Western Ghats of India and has apparently been around since the age of the dinosaurs. Its ancestors survived the splitting of the Earth – they were on Gondwanaland at one point, survived an ice age or two as well as the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs and numerous earth-shattering quakes and volcanic eruptions.
As weirdly unattractive as it looks, this creature is a survivor, and that’s deserving of anyone’s respect. But it’s now met its match.
Already on the endangered species list, the Maveli frog – as it’s known in Kerala – is fast on its way to extinction. We humans, it seems, find this frog’s babies very tasty (again, go figure) and eat as many as 400 tadpoles apiece on an annual basis. According to a report in The Wire, indigenous tribes in Kerala easily consume between 15,000 and 20,000 tadpoles annually during the monsoon season.
Adult frogs are believed to have medicinal benefits and are also considered aphrodisiacs. As per a report in Edge of Existence, children wear amulets made from Adult Maveli frogs as it is believed that doing so will reduce their fear of storms.

The frog may be cosmically unattractive, but we humans can come up with some mightily ridiculous reasons for wiping out an entire species.
Being a burrowing species, the frog wasn’t officially discovered till 2003 (locals had been consuming it for decades though). The frog spends the bulk of its life underground and only comes up for about two weeks before the monsoons in order to mate. According to a 2015 report, only 135 of these frogs have been spotted by scientists in the wild, and of these, only three were female.
Just before the monsoon, males guide females to their location via mating calls. Being a third of the size of the female, the males once paired up, hitch a ride on the female and head to the nearest breeding site, usually a shaded rocky pool near a rain-fed stream, according to The Wire. With both frogs being slimy and the male being so small, in order to maintain his grip on the female, the male must grip the female’s spine. He then proceeds to push the eggs out of her and fertilise them.

Tesla to Investigate Car That Appeared to Burst Into Flames in Shanghai

Tesla to Investigate Car That Appeared to Burst Into Flames in Shanghai
In January Tesla started construction on a huge new factory near Shanghai, its first plant outside the United States.

SHANGHAI — The electric-car maker Tesla said on Monday that it had sent a team to investigate why one of its cars appeared to spontaneously combust in Shanghai over the weekend, an incident that the authorities said left no one hurt.
The explosion occurred Sunday evening in the basement parking garage of an apartment complex in Shanghai’s Xuhui District, according to a post by the local fire department on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Security camera footage accompanying the post showed smoke creeping out from beneath a parked Tesla sedan for a few seconds before the car bursts into flames. The fire department said that two other cars were also damaged.
“Last night we dispatched a team at once to the scene,” Tesla said in a Monday morning post on its Weibo account. The fire department said that the cause of the explosion was still being investigated.
China is a surging market for electric vehicles, and Tesla has many fans there. In January, the company started construction on a huge new factory near Shanghai, its first plant outside the United States.

The trade war between the United States and China has directly affected Tesla’s business. After President Trump issued his first tariffs last year on $50 billion in Chinese-made goods, Beijing retaliated by increasing tariffs on American-made cars to 40 percent. Cars made everywhere else face a 15 percent import tax in China.

World's most hacked passwords revealed; Check if you are using one of them

123456, 123456789, qwerty and password are some of most widely used passwords found in the breached accounts.

Passwords are the gateways to our digital lives. While a complex password can help us thwart cyber attacks by making it difficult for hackers to get access of our personal and social media accounts, an easy to guess password can give them easy access to troves of personal data. Interestingly, despite knowing the importance and risks associated with using the right password, millions of internet users use easy-to-guess passwords as keys to their digital accounts.
A recent survey by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has revealed that millions of internet users - as many as 23.2 million users - use "123456" as their account passwords. As per the agency's findings, this password is also the one most widely used in the breached accounts. Closely behind this was the password "123456789", which was used by nearly 7.7 million users.
Other than the two above mentioned passwords, internet users also used "qwerty", "password" and "1111111" as their passwords frequently.
In terms of the names of the fictional characters being used as passwords, "superman" topped the list closely followed by "naruto", "tigger", "pokemon" and "batman". Popular Premier League football team names that were used as password include "liverpool", "chelsea", "arsenal", "manutd" and "everton". "Using hard-to-guess passwords is a strong first step and we recommend combining three random but memorable words. Be creative and use words memorable to you, so people can't guess your password," Dr Ian Levy, NCSC Technical Director said in a statement.
Apart from publishing the report which detailed that the password "123456" had been found 23 million times in various data breaches, NCSC also published a list of top 100,000 passwords from Troy Hunt's Have I Been Pwned database. We have compiled a list of top 20 most vulnerable passwords from the list. Check if you are using any of those passwords here:
